Americans Don’t Care as Much About Work. And It Isn’t Just Gen Z.
(WSJ) - By outward appearances, the labor market today looks much as it did before the pandemic. The unemployment rate is just as low, the share of adults in the labor force is just as high, and wages are growing at roughly the same pace after inflation. But beneath the surface, the nature of labor has changed profoundly. Career and work aren’t nearly as central to the lives of Americans. They want more time for their families and themselves, and more flexibility about when, where and how they work. It isn’t that people hate their jobs or bosses; overall job satisfaction remains pretty high. It is just that other things are more important, which manifests itself in a number of ways.

Architects Unveil Design for New Home for Williams College Museum of Art
(The Architect’s Newspaper) WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Architecture firm SO – IL has designed a new home for the Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) at Williams College. After the new building by SO – IL is finished in 2027, WCMA will move to a nebulous, low-lying structure -- located on the grounds of the former Williams Inn -- with an aluminum shingle roof that ebbs-and-flows across the pastoral landscape, mimicking the nearby Berkshire Mountains. Upon completion, the building will host over 15,000 art works from Williams College Museum of Art’s permanent collection spread across 15,000 square feet of display space; and yield a total of 76,800 square feet of new space. Half of Amtrak’s Albany-NYC Seats Now Face Backward for Quicker Turnaround
(ATU) - One of the best views in New York can be seen from an Amtrak train on the Empire Corridor route that hugs the Hudson River between the Capital Region and New York City. That view remains in place, but since Saturday, about half the riders are getting that view from a backward aspect — that is the seats are facing the back of the train instead of the front. The reconfiguration, in which half the seats face front and half face back, is part of an efficiency move designed to speed service.
